Is there still value of attending conferences in today’s society where so much information is available online anyway?
I believe there are still enormous advantages to be gained.
Take the ad:tech conference that’s coming up in March in Sydney.
By attending an event like this what will you get?
- Great networking opportunities with some of the best in the business.
- Learning from a number of enthusiastic and inspirational keynote speakers, that are highly knowledgeable in the industry.
- Listening to some lively and controversial panel debates that influence the direction of the industry.
- Seeing showcases of the best new technology and services in the industry.
- Gain a lot of knowledge in a short amount of time
- And more importantly listen from those who are DOING THE STUFF, the ones walking the talk.

Adtech Sydney 2010
So what exactly is ad:tech Sydney?
It’s a great event for anyone using digital marketing and advertising. It’s the leading event in the industry in Australia and New Zealand with keynote speakers and innovative hands-on workshops delivering immediate, take-away value. It’s no surprise that ad:tech Sydney won the EEAA Award for Best New Event when it was launched in Australia four years ago.
ad:tech has events worldwide – from Shanghai to San Francisco to London and New York. In fact ad:tech hosts 10 shows in 7 countries, but I’m more interested in the Sydney event on March 16th and 17th, as that’s the one I’ll be attending.
Not only will I be attending this event, I’ll also be a ‘Social Media Manager’ for the event. Amongst other things, I’ll be responsible for giving the event a social media presence. I will be continually tweeting while I’m at the conference, keeping everyone updated about the happenings of the conference, while also managing the conference room – welcoming people, and running and moderating the mic for the Q&A. I’ll also be interviewing some key speakers from the event.
So if you can’t make it down to the ad:tech event this March, you can follow me @lucio_ribeiro for tweets before, during and after the event.
Or
@lucyjjames – who besides being a very nice lady, is the content manager at ad:tech Sydney. Hashtag is #ATSYD
Alternatively, you can still find some intriguing insights about the industry on ad:tech brain at http://www.ad-techbrain.com.au/.
On ad:tech brain you’ll find discussions, polls and posts from people in the industry.
