What You Need To Know About Hashtags | Social Media Infographic

How hashtags work in the digital marketing space

Did you know that hashtags were first used within IRC networks to label topics and groups and were only made popular when Twitter adopted them?

Did you also know that Australia is in the top 10 countries to use hashtags worldwide?

On Saturday 16th March, Flickr added hashtag support to its photo-sharing mobile platform. Additionally, Facebook added hashtags to its social media platform and Pinterest has dropped hashtags all together.

With hashtags being a hot topic in social media marketing, the creative team at digital agency Online Circle have created an infographic to teach you what you need to know about hashtags in the social space.

  1. Hi Ali,

I’m a post-graduate broadcasting student from Western Australia.

I’m currently working on a radio current affairs package investigating the rise in the creation of social media coordinator type positions within companies/organisations.

It seems to be a growth area and I was hoping you would be available for a telephone interview to discuss the topic further.

I’ve included a list of a questions below. Please take a look and let me know if you are able to make comment and willing to participate in a phone interview.

    – Why is social media important to companies/organisations?
    – Why are we seeing social media coordinator type roles being created?
    – Is the role important to companies/organisations?
    – Is it a growth area and why?
    – What’s to come?

Please note I am on deadline for the end of next week. I look forward to hearing from you shortly.

    Regards,
