Anonymous is not good

March 20, 2009

Two children were placed in a room for a while, without knowing they were being filmed, and then after in a presence of a camera.

That was the test done by Reporters Without Borders, a campaign created by Saatchi & Saatchi in Paris, to show how people behave differently when being observed, thus defending press freedom.

So you might think why I’m publishing this on MarketingEasy a blog devoted to SEO and Internet Marketing?

2 reasons:

- No Clean Feed Australia

- The problem with anonymous on internet as business.

Regards

Lucio Ribeiro

While I agree for the most part, anonymous gives people a chance to speak their mind where they normally might not which is not always a bad thing.

My guilty pleasures include reading the comments on Campaign Brief for a laugh and occasionally hanging out on 4 Chan, which would both be very different if you couldn’t post anonymously.

Zac my man!
I understand your point, agree on the user perspective.
Anyway I wrote this point under business perspective.
Under business perspective Anonymous is damaging force.
Let’s compare to the real world.
Let’s say you own and operates a store on a mall.
You see two “clients” walk in to your store, one is a normal person, you could see his/her face. The other is someone walking with a mask. Which one would you rather do business with?

This is oldish post i know but i only just saw it….and it’s great. Anyway. With respect to the video – the kids are most natural / creative / fun / problematic when the camera isn’t there. As soon as the camera is there they are inhibited. So which customers do I want? I want the ones tumbling about so I can help them behave. The well behaved one’s might be concealing the truth or an opportunity ;-) – Dave

Dave, i see you point.
My point is in general as a common sense anonymous is dangerous for the business internet.
Let’s say Emails spam.
They are all based on anonymous fact.
Bad reviews, most of products bad reviews are fake or gray.

Hi Lucio, that’s true man, I was just looking at the video from a different perspective I think. Cheers.
