All forums and discussing groups have been panicking to report another large PageRank update taking place in the Google Toolbar.
It’s true, Google is fighting and punishing paid links on this time.
Every few months Google updates the PageRank data that is showed in the toolbar, and every few months the same questions are risen.
The most important question for me is:
- Will this PR update affect SERPs? Are we going to have also a SERP data refresh / update?
According to Google Matt Cutts:
“By the time you see newer PageRanks in the toolbar, those values have already been incorporated in how we score/rank our search results. So while you may be happy to see that the Google Toolbar shows a little more PageRank for a given page, it’s not as if that causes a change in search results at that point. So you won’t see any search engine result page (SERP) changes as a result of this PageRank export–those changes have been gradually baking in since the last PageRank export.”
That’s the point, It doesn’t affect your the SERP, but if you want your website to be considered relevant under Google’s spiders, yes this is important metric.
MarketingEasy under the new format has started 3 months ago under PR0, with the new review has jumped to 4, what is a great move.
As I wrote before on Page Rank Sucks, I still believe in optimization to your users and not to Google, but yes I’m really happy with my upgrade.
Cheers
