One less drink on Friday

October 31, 2008

Today is Friday and most of us here in Australia are getting ready to go out and have a nice round of cold beer!

How about if I propose something for you?

Tonight put away the money of one beer and send it over to the guys on One Home Many Hopes

One of the many challenges facing OHMH is funding, like any non-profit organization.

However, thanks to Twitter users Vanessa Leong and Shelley Greenberg, as well as Boston-based social media blogger Graddon Tripp, OHMH could be $20,000 better off within 30 days.

Together they have come up with a challenge -Raise 20k in donation in 30 days.

With social media, that should be pretty easy.

HEY – HOW CAN I BUILD GOOD KARMA WITH SOCIAL MEDIA?

3 WAYS :

- Visit the OHMH donation page and send them the money you saved with a Pint of beer (this wont change your life but it’ll change someone’s)

and/or

- Send out a Tweet to your Twitter friends – I’m @lucio_ribeiro

and/or

- Write a blog post about the event

and/or

- Email your friends

Use your connections on Social Media to do something good.We are one but we are many.

We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the action is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves. – thanks Buddha.

Hi Lucio,

What a fantastic idea – and such a simple one as well. After all, what’s the price of one beer to any of us? But to these girls, it could be everything.

Great idea and sure to be a massive help – thank you for supporting.

Cheers,

Danny.

Hello from the Vanessa mentioned in your post! I am so thrilled that you’ve blogged about One Home Many Hopes. This means the world to the girls and they will LOVE that someone in Australia is thinking about them. I can’t wait to tell them about you. Our new website is up now too with a photo montage of the girls, http://www.raceto20k.org

@ Paul so do I like! However we can make difference, I know it sounds childishy and too philosophical but yes – 10$ is a life saving for girls like Riziki – 4 years

Lucio et al,

I’m the founder of ‘One Home Many Hopes’ and wanted to give you a quick but deeply sincere thank you for mentioning us and our 35. As a Northern Irishman I know the sacrifice that giving up one beer represents and so I must acknowledge it. On behalf of 35 girls in Mtwapa, Kenya…thank you and welcome aboard.
