Leo Lapporte x Michael “Techcrunch” Arrington.attack!
Come on Leo, relax….

Apparently Leo Laporte doesn’t like it when you question his integrity.

Earlier today on the Gillmor Gang show Leo Laporte cussed out Mike Arrington (the founder of TechCrunch) when Mike questioned Leo about receiving a “free” Pre from Palm.

Leo basically said “Fuck you – piece of S***” and turned off the show…

This is Michael Arrington’s response on his blog:
“I agree i was too aggressive, and he didn’t have context on the story brewing in the background about the possible shadiness around the launch. Part of the aggressiveness is just how the Gillmor Gang goes – it tends to roll that way with the personalities that Steve puts on the show. Part of it was because I totally thought he was joking.
But like I said above, I apologize to Leo. This wasn’t about whether his opinion was being influenced on the device. It was just about being up front with the audience on the conflict of interest.”

Ladies are back in terms now.

Techcrunch and Arrington’s credibility has been severely dwindling down over time anyway. He knows very little for a guy like him.

Agree, Arrington and his arrogance it’s been over the top for a while now.
Theres no doubt his contact agenda is full with names, he knows people, howvere hiw long time arrogance is burning all his bridges.

Tech Tabloid Techcrunch just writes whatever views its readers will agree with, with TC’s masses of diehard mac fanboy readers palm pre is never going to get an unbiased review

Never seen this show before but first impression is that this Leo guy is an egotistical idiot. Disclosing personal interest is a huge priority for any type of journalism and isn’t a slight against a journalist but just puts their opinion into context. Especially since the process of purchasing and paying for an item has a lot of impact on it’s perceived value.

Maybe it is a one week review unit but what if the marketing manager at Palm says just keep at the end of the week to journos that that give good reviews.

I’m a huge fan of Leo’s and all of his work and can only say that that was genuine disgust he was showing there. I think he could have handled it better and he should have been clear in disclosing at the start of the discussion however Arlington has really lost a lot of respect in the IT world over the past few years. He has been trying a little to hard to compete with Leo on the area of creditability for too long.
