James,
I also agree with Michael. What Im trying to express here is that the era of SEo as we know is dead. The tricks oof the best header tags, keywords stuffing, etc, etc, theres no more reason.
SEOs are playing the system, but at the same time google needs them.
Online marketing is not just made of SEO but more than this. SEO became the superstar of online marketing and it shouldn't be.
As the time will pass definitely we'll see a less DEPENDENCY from Serach Engines and less influence on SERPs based just and only SEO.
I say that other online marketing strategies will be more valuable for Good positions than SEO itself.
Thats my point.
Cheers

I agree with Michael. SEO will always evolve because we marketers are constantly trying to manipulate the rankings. The moment Google leaves the algorithm alone is the moment it becomes full of spam junk. Sure... spam does exist, but most of the search results are still relevant.

Based on this I don't think SEO can ever really die. A specialist knowledge will always be required to tweek rankings according to the latest algorithm hot spots.

Hi Michael, I understand your point, and pretty much we are on the same page.
I like your comparison with Web developers, and thats all my point here.
SEO the way we know, the way we understand will be soon dead.
Good professionals will find their space, but my whole point here is to say that the SERPS will be less dependent and influenced by SEO professionals.
Cheers

I forgot to add that saying SEO is dead is like saying Web Developers are becoming extinct with the advent of "so easy to use a kindergartner could do it" web design applications. The difference is it takes someone of the caliber of a SEO Expert/Consultant/What have you to make sure those trends are followed and passed on to their clients.

I don't think that SEO is dead persay. I think its evolving. Google is constantly changing their formulas, redefining KeyWord Spam, etc. With the Advent of Web2.0 and Social Media Marketing, it is reasonable to think that blogs and other social media outlets are going to get higher billing on Google and other Search Engines. It is up to us as SEO Experts to make sure we are on the cutting edge of the trends and technologies.

Down on Spot Lucio,
If you are so right about it why do you still write about SEO?
