Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez may have recently discovered the joy of “Tweet” but now he is discovering that Twitter may also have “negative effects” for presidents (something similar for large companies).
The Venezuelan leader threw himself into the microblogging siteat start of May 2010, using the tool to attack his opponents.

Hugo Chavez (Venezuela president) and his account ( http://www.twitter.com/chavezcandanga ) attracted around 250,000 followers on the first week.
But now he has been inundated with responses and hired 200 people to help you answer the more than 50 000 messages he says he has received in just nine days.
“This is more work for me because I can not stop responding,” he said during a long tv broadcast speech late on “So I made a decision, this is the avalanche of messages.”
Twitter users experienced a boom in Venezuela, where there are now over 200 000 active accounts.
The profile of the president is the second most followed in the country after Globovisión, a television channel that opposes him.
Chavez said on Friday that half of the messages he received were favourable to their political supporters, while others were requests for assistance or complaints about faulty services.
But he also estimated that 18.4% of the responses were hostile.

So very sorry that this dangerous and destructive character shows up trendsetting in social media! But what can we do… Tweet harder an louder against his oppression, I guess.
By the way, he is the president of Venezuela and not Bolivia as the article states about halfway through.

I guess he’s a very dangerous character – but listen – at least he’s screaming out loud rather than whispering in unknown ears.
