I often get asked, “How much will this keyword cost in AdWords?” or “What are the most expensive keywords in Google Adwords?”
There’s no straight answer. The Google AdWords price is calculated based on different facts dictated primarily by quality score.
Quality score is an estimate of how relevant your ads, keywords, and landing pages are to a person seeing your ad. Having a high quality score means that Google’s systems thinks an ad, keyword, and landing page are all relevant to the user.
The guys from WordStream (Search Marketing tools for SEO and PPC) put together an infographic to display the top 20 most expensive keywords for PPC.
This is a good indication of AdWords price direction by category. The list below is just an indication of the most expensive ‘root’ keywords. Its variations could cost up to A$100 per click.
Eg. The keyword ‘insurance’ might cost around A$15.00 per click however variations such as “life insurance quote” can go as high as A$85.00 per click.
